About
Chris
Chris Dayton, a local musician and teacher has been a key volunteer for the skatepark. He brings years of ramp building experience to this project and is an avid skateboarder. He's logged some serious hours building the skatepark so we'd like to give a special thanks to Chris for his amazing work and volunteering his time.
Framed to perfection
The initial build of the Pownal Skatepark was constructed on an extremely limited budget of 4200.00.. for the entire park! Every bit of this budget was used for materials.. all work was done by the amazing volunteers at no cost. During the summer of 2021 the price of materials was sky high.. so this already small budget wouldn't go very far.. But with the help of local business we were able to get the initial setup of the park built; B&B Auto donated metal, wood and other materials for the build out of this park. Bennington Cooling and Heating graciously donated the metal for the bank ramp and pipe for the manual box.
Metal
The Pownal Skatepark is constructed of pressure treated plywood and rust resistant screws. This brings the need for the base of each ramp to have a metal panel for a smooth transition from the concrete to the ramp. We'd like to thank L&G Fabricators Inc. for donating metal for the wood doubles and both small kicker ramps!
Photo
A big thanks to Tim Peters Photo for donating skateboards to the park. These are free to use and are located in the storage shed next to the ramps. Tim has also supported the last two Pownal Fun Runs to bring awareness to the park!
The Church
A special thanks to the members of the Pownal Center Community Church who volenteered to build the Pownal skatepark. The Church members have provided all the tools to use for the build and also donated materials like wood, metal and decking screws. They even supplied the night lights on each ramp deck! They're located right next to the skatepark at 495 Center St. View their website here: Pownal Center Community Church
